Band Awards!

CONGRATS JR HIGH BAND!!

Jr High Band went to the Majestic Theater Friday April 4th to compete in the Big D classic with performing groups from all of our surrounding states and as far as Canada.

Both the Symphonic Band and the Concert Band received the highest marks of "1" Superior for their division.  At the Awards Ceremony at Six Flags, the Symphonic Band was honored as the highest scoring instrumental group and awarded the "Best in Festival" trophy. 

Congratulations Band!! YOU ARE TRUE CHAMPIONS!!!

The Bands had a winning day at UIL on Wed April 3rd as the Concert Band earned a Division 2 with a UIL rating of "EXCELLENT" both on stage and in the sightreading room.

The Symphonic Band came away with a Division 1 "SUPERIOR" rating from all 6 judges and established themselves as the premier band in the region.  These are the highest marks and honors awarded to a Junior High Band by UIL.

This is only the second time in the history of KISD that the band has been awarded the Sweepstakes trophy.  The first time was in 1989.
