SchoolCenter PictureOn Saturday, September 25, 2010, the citizens of Kaufman Independent School District will be asked to vote in a school district Tax Ratification Election (TRE), which will provide additional dollars for daily maintenance and operations of the district.
What is a TRE Election?  State law now requires school districts to hold a Tax Ratification Election (TRE) in order to approve any tax rate that is above $1.04 for maintennce and operations.  The TRE Election will allow KISD to increase taxes for maintenance and operations up to .13 cents.

The ballot shows an increase in my taxes.  Does this mean my taxes will increase? NO
A school district is required to adopt a budget for maintnece & operations and another budget for debt.  The KISD Board has legally pledged to use the .13 cent increase from TRE election to decrease budgeted debt by .13 cents.  So, the net increase in the total tax rate will be $0.

TRE Election
Early Voting September 8 - September 21, Kaufman County Courthouse Annex, 8:00am-5:00pm Saturday, September 25, Kaufman First Baptist Church, 7:00am-7:00pm

SchoolCenter PictureKISD Screens Visitors with RaptorWare System
Please be aware that Kaufman ISD campuses are implementing a new visitor check in and checkout system designed to add another layer of security at the campus level. Our staff will work closely with campus visitors to answer questions and train them on how the system will be utilized to guard entrance to the campus facility past the point of the school office. A visitor will use a system called RaptorWare® to scan his/her driver's license or state issued i.d., match the information against registered sex offender databases, and then print a photo identification badge. If the person is cleared for entry, the badge must be worn at all times while on campus and then returned to the school office upon checkout.

Please be encouraged to visit with campus office staff about the new system. Additional information may also be reviewed at the RaptorWare® website by clicking here.
