MRS. BROWNING
Mrs. Stephanie Browning was born in Norman, Oklahoma. She has a BA degree from Oklahoma University, and is certified in Early Childhood. She was the Helen Edwards 2004-05 Teacher of the Year.
MRS. BLACKMON
Mrs. Sarah Blackmon was born in Dallas, Texas on December 27th, and was raised in Kaufman. She is completing her fourth year in Kaufman. She has a BS from Texas A&M University, and is certified in Early Childhood. She has been married for one year and enjoys attending her husband’s games. He is a coach in Kemp ISD.
MRS. GRIMES
Mrs. Laquitta Grimes is beginning her second year with KISD and thirteenth year teaching kindergarten. She received a BS in Interdisciplinary Studies with a specialization in Early Childhood from East Texas State University. She is also ESL certified. She has two grown sons and is a new grandmother! Her birthday is March 9th and her favorite hobby is reading.
MS. WORDEN
Miss Krystal Worden was raised in Kaufman and is a 2002 graduate of Kaufman High School. She is a Texas A&M-Commerce graduate with a certificate in Early Childhood through 4th grade. Her hobbies include scrapbooking, reading, and cooking.
MS. ATCHISON
Miss Andrea Atchison grew up in Forney and is a 2002 graduate from Forney High School. She graduated college from East Texas Baptist University in 2006 with a teaching certificate in Early Childhood through 8th grade. This is her first year teaching with KISD. She loves kids, reading, and running.
MRS. GILLENWATER
Mrs. Gaelyn Gillenwater was born in Dallas, Texas on August 7th. She received a BS in Home Economics from Texas Tech University. She is certified in Early Childhood, ESL, and Special Education. She is married with a daughter.
MRS. HAVAS
Mrs. Veronica Havas was born in Houston, Texas on May 14. She graduated form UT Arlington with a BA in Communications. She is certified in Early Childhood and ESL. She has been in Kaufman ISD 14 years. She and her husband have five children and one grandchild.
MRS. WHITEMAN
Mrs. Angela Whiteman is our Kindergarten/Bilingual Education teacher. She was born in Mexico on October 4th. She has a BA in Elementary Education with a specialization in Math from Texas A&M Commerce and is certified in Early Childhood, ESL and Bilingual. She has two girls, and loves reading and sports. She is the 2007-08 Teacher of the Year.
MRS. ACEVEDO
Mrs. Kori Acevedo is completing her first year in KISD. She is a 1989 graduate of KHS (Kori Lewis) and is married to Ignacio, who is a 1987 KHS graduate. She graduated from Texas A&M in College Station and is very proud to be a "fightin Texas Aggie". She has two sons. One likes baseball and the other likes tractors. Her birthday is January 17 and her favorite hobbies are scrapbooking, reading, and growing plants/flowers.
Mrs. Martin
MRS. DAWSON
Mrs. Wendy Dawson was born in Littleton, New Hampshire on December 23rd. She was raised in Litchfield, Connecticut and has lived in Connecticut and/or Massachusetts all her life. Mrs. Dawson is a certified Special Education teacher who graduated from Assumption College in Worcester, Mass. She has taught pre-K for 9 years and special education for seven years. Mrs. Dawson recently moved to Kaufman and will be joined shortly by her husband Neil and their eight (yes 8!) cats. She enjoys spending time with her husband, cats and friends, going to the movies or out to eat, decorating her home and working/playing on the computer. Mrs. Dawson is very excited to be a member of the wonderful staff at Helen Edwards Early Childhood Center.
Mrs. Lusk
MRS. TROLLINGER
Mrs. Jean Trollinger was born in Terrell on July 7th, but was raised in Dallas. She is a Baylor graduate with a certification in Early Childhood and Elem. Ed. She is married with two daughters and one grandchild. She has been teaching Kindergarten in Kaufman for 24 years now, and has taught for a total of 31 years. Her favorite activities are playing the piano, reading, and crafts.
MRS. BASSETT
Mrs. Janet Bassett was born in Dallas, Texas on October 5th. She graduated form East Texas State with a BS and is certified in Early Childhood and Elementary through 8th grade. She is completing her thirteenth year in KISD. Mrs. Bassett is married with two grown children; one at Texas A & M and one married. She is looking forward to her first granddaughter, which is due in September. She loves to sew.
MRS. SEWELL
Mrs. Kelly Sewell was born in Dallas, Texas on February 8th. She is finishing her 7th year in KISD. She has an Elementary Education degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University and is also certified in Early Childhood. She is married with two daughters. She most enjoys outdoor activities.
